How to play 301 darts
Each player starts on 301 and subtracts the value of every visit. The first player to reach exactly zero under the selected checkout rule wins the leg. Apart from the lower starting score, the basic flow is the same as 501.
Choose the right out rule
Straight-out
Any scoring segment may finish the leg. This is the easiest format for new players.
When 301 is the better choice
301 is useful for short practice matches, beginner sessions and busy pub nights. It reaches the finishing phase quickly, which means players practise doubles and bust decisions more often than in a longer 501 leg.
301 versus 501
The scoring method is identical, but 301 rewards fast setup and controlled finishing. Ocheflow lets players use the same mobile scorer while changing only the start score and out rule.
Double-out
The final dart must land in a double. This adds standard X01 checkout pressure.
Master-out
The final dart may land in a double or triple, creating more possible finishes.
Bust rules
Under double-out or master-out, a player busts by going below zero, leaving an impossible remainder under the selected rule or reaching zero with an invalid final dart. The whole visit is cancelled and the score resets to the start of that visit.
